Today I’m launching a new section of my website called ‘Chat with Chimpie’. My hopes are to ask the questions that I think many of us have but don’t know how to go about getting the answers to.
My first interview is with Josh Banks, Support Manager and Josh Loe, Customer Service Manager of HostGator. The interview is in response to the routing incident at ThePlanet on Monday (May 3, 2010). Thousands of websites were affected. Some sites appeared to be inaccessible while some end users were able to view them just fine. Within moments of the router going down, Twitter and other forms of social media lit up with people screaming about their servers failing. There were lots of misinformation being spread around, so I wanted to give HostGator, one of the hosting companies affected by the outage, a chance to explain what happened.
Early Monday morning there was a …

Just a quick blog post to tell you about my Saturday.
On Saturday, April 17th I attended Sarasota’s 2010 Ecofest. I went pretty early in the day but the street was already packed. There were lots of vendors/sponsors telling us about their newest products.
I managed to take a few pictures before being engrossed by all the activities. You can view them by going to our fan page.
There will be another Ecofest in Punta Gorda, Florida on April 24th from 10am to 6pm at Fisherman’s Village.
For more information check out Natural Awakenings Sarasota website.

For the second consecutive year, Commissioner Bud Selig has invited all players and uniformed personnel to wear the late Hall of Famer’s famous No. 42. That number was retired by decree of the Commissioner throughout baseball on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Robinson taking the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
What once was a voluntary gesture has now become standard fare on the day baseball remembers the great Robinson.

I’ve been wanting to talk about SugarSync for awhile now but haven’t really had a chance to write a detailed review of it. In fact, I really don’t have the time right now, but I think this is something that everyone should have.
SugarSync allows you to do five main things:
Backup your files (documents, photos, music, etc.) offsite
Sync your files across multiple computers (desktop, laptop, office, netbook, etc)
Share your files with friends or colleagues
Access your files from any internet connection
Manage your files from your smartphone using apps available for the iPhone, Blackberry, Android & WinMo
Why should you backup your files offsite? Let me tell you a story.
For about two years I backed up my files on an external drive. Some of the files I stored on it were original files, meaning that no other copies existed. Then one day I saw that the light on the HD was flashing. The motor …
